
•Our own Shannon McColl marks a new milestone in her dance education as she enters the prestigious and highly selective dance program at the Boston Conservatory this fall! We are very proud of Shannon’s accomplishment and wish her continued success!
•Jillian Mueller continues to impress audiences, appearing on Broadway in Billy Elliot and Bye Bye Birdie! She also danced in the recent American Ballet Theater production of Le Corsaire.
•One of our graduates, Jennifer Bermeo, was hand-selected for a prestigious four-year dance program at the University of Liverpool, England. She also recently returned from California where she participated in a hip-hop talent showcase.
• Several of our faculty members and students have graced the small screen! Miss Bianca debuted with a dance audition for the reality show Dance Wars, and recently made it all the way to the Las Vegas audition round for So You Think You Can Dance, on FOX.
• Congratulations also to Miss Lindsay and Miss Amanda, whose performances were broadcast several times in their quest for the title of America's Best Dance Crew, on MTV. They currently work as professional dancers for the NFL Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets, respectively.
• We are very proud of Sarah Safer for her success as a permanent cast member in the national touring company of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, Whistle Down the Wind, and for performance with "The Broadway Kids" during the Jazz at Lincoln Center series.
• Congratulations also to Jasmine Leoncini, who appeared in a music video with Bjork, on MSG with the New York Knicks City Dancers, and as a model for Costume Gallery. The same goes to Joy Allan, who lit up the set and warmed our hearts during the holiday season with an appearance on All My Children.
• A very deserving student, Pam Cantrell, received a $5,000 scholarship to attend California Institute of the Arts. Shannon McColl received over $80,000 in scholarships towards her studies at the Boston Conservatory, and Olivia Alvarez used part of her scholarship award from Muhlenberg College to study dance and performance at the Accademia dell’Arte in Arezzo, Italy.
• The Dance Stop Dancers recently completed a clean sweep of all the top prizes in the Starbound competition held in Lawrenceville, NJ. That's what we said! In a packed 3-day contest involving many local and regional dance schools, Dance Stop won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in all age groups, across all categories! Many of our dancers also won additional recognition, and we are proud to see their hard work pay off!
• Dance Stop brings the best and brightest creative artists right to your doorstep! Our teachers produce artistic events, choreograph professional stage productions, and work with world-renowned dance companies. Watch for upcoming opportunities to take master classes and intensive workshops with Rosemary Sabovich-Bleick, Al Blackstone, Thang Dao, and Julie Shulman.
• The Dance Stop Dancers performed at the Strand Theater as part of the Unite for Life/Dancers Respond to AIDS fundraiser. Our students helped raise a remarkable $18,000 to support this valuable charity, which surpasses our accomplishment in all prior years! Another recent charity performance was to benefit the breast cancer research being conducted at the Weill Cornell Medical Center.
